ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS MUSIC PROGRAMS

General Music instruction is provided weekly for one semester per year for first and second grade students 


Beginning in Fall 2024/25, General Music instruction will be provided weekly for the whole year for both first and second graders.

Students participate in a weekly exploratory wheel. The year is divided into trimesters and  students rotate through violin, recorder, and choir. 


The  music wheel allows third graders to broaden their musical experiences, and gives them a stronger reference for selecting their music pathway for fourth and fifth grade.

Grades 4-5

Fourth and fifth grade music is a two-year program with weekly classes. Students choose between Strings, Band or Choir, giving them the opportunity to build their skills and achieve mastery.


There are also Honor programs made up of the most advanced music students selected from each elementary school in the district. These are groups that

These are groups that  provide students with the opportunity to take the skills they have been practicing on their instruments, both individually and in class, and apply them to an orchestral group setting. This performance-based ensembles give those who are at the head of their music classes an extra set of challenges and motivation that will lead to continued success at the next developmental levels.
